The Week of November 29th-December 3rd

Hello Everyone,

I was certain that I would be able to give shoveling snow up for a few weeks...Unfortunately, I was mistaken. I spent much of Sunday chipping away compacted snow from my driveway and trying to find room on the four foot drift between my house and my neighbour's. I was lucky to have some support from Braigh. He was a great helper. We then got to enjoy the Grey Cup game Sunday afternoon.

Week at a glance:

Report card envelopes are trickling in with parent signatures. Please return them as soon as possible, we need them to be certain that the report cards have actually made it home :)

The grade 7's will be enjoying a trip to the Movie Mill on the 16th of December. We would love it if some parents would join us...please contact me to let me know if you are interested in joining us.

Science: We are beginning our new unit in Science this week. Students will be exploring components of Heat and Temperature. We will discuss the needs of historical peoples with respect to Heat and Temperature, moving right along to our needs today. Students can also expect results from their Science Tests toward the end of this week.

Math: We will continue with our discussion of Perimeter and move onto Area. There are a few students who need to present their Travel Agent projects. They will have the opportunity to present toward the end of the week. If you see an opportunity to discuss Perimeter (the distance around the outside of an object) or Area (the surface or space within a two-dimensional shape) and how they relate to everyday living, please do so. Students understand concepts better when they are able to connect them to their realities.

Hope everyone has a week of safe driving and warmth!

David
