Hello Everyone!
I would like to start by wishing everyone all the best in the Holiday Season. This is a time of year where I am looking forward to spending time with loved ones. I hope everyone is able to take a little bit of a time out from our busy lives and enjoy family. Safe travels and Happy Holidays to all!
We will be attending the Movie Mill this Thursday from 11:30-1:30, if any parents are interested in joining us for "Despicable Me" please notify me. It will be a well deserved break for students who have been working hard this year.
Science: Our Science quiz will take place Wednesday, December 15th. We will be covering information on our first two sections of the Heat and Temperature Unit. Students have been given time in class to prepare for their quiz but it is recommended that they continue to spend time studying at home. Study Guide Students can also use the notes to support their understanding from home: edquest.ca
Math: There will be a Math quiz on Thursday, December 16th (7C,7D). Students have been discussing the concepts of Perimeter and Area. They will be required to know how to solve the perimeter and area of rectangles, triangles, parallelograms, and squares for their quiz. There are example an practise questions that can be found through moodle. We have been looking at components of Chapter three in the textbook. Students will participate in review activities Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Remember that Mr. L is available during nutrition breaks should you require some extra support with your Math. Review Questions here: Review Questions and answers
Have a great week and enjoy the Holidays!

The week of December 6th-10th
Hello Everyone,
I spent the weekend nursing sick children at home, coaching hockey, and watching the Edmonton Oilers roll to their fourth strait victory. As the weekend came to a close it was great news on all fronts. Braigh is feeling better, his hockey team played great in two games, and the Oilers have surpassed the lowly Calgary Flames in the standings!
Back to it! We have a mere two weeks of school remaining until the winter break. As I adjust to teaching at the Middle School level, I am noticing that the pace just continues to gain momentum. Students will be closing out term 2 at the end of January so assignments and assessments will continue to mount.
A request: Could you please ask your child if he/she has enough pens/pencils to make it through the next couple of weeks. I have noticed a growing number of students showing up to class requesting a pencil or a pen. Unfortunately my supply is decreasing on a daily basis.
Math: We will continue our unit on Measurement/Geometry this week. Students have examined perimeter and area so far. This week we will explore problem solving, the area of a parallelogram and triangles. Students have been given the opportunity to learn these topics as a class, in small groups, and individually. We will be looking to write our unit exam Wednesday, December 15th. So keep on top of it 7C, and 7D. I am available most nutrition breaks for extra help.
Science: Our discussions and activities related to Heat and Temperature will take us to the Particle Model of Matter and the States of Matter this week. Students will continue to have some choice in how they show their learning of the subject matter. We will hope to test student learning of section 1.0 and 2.0 on Wednesday, December 15th as well. See edquest.ca for the notes.
Have a great week!
