Parents/Guardians and Students of 7C, 7D, and 7F:
I hope that everyone had an enjoyable and a safe weekend! My weekend began with a bang. Thursday night, my Oilers dominated the Calgary Flames 4-0. Mr. Hall, Mr. Letasy, and Mr. James all found themselves wearing Oiler jerseys Friday at school. It was beautiful!
My family and I enjoyed a nice getaway to our favourite place; Kimberley. We spent the weekend swimming, skating, watching hockey games, and eating of course! Needless to say, we had a great time.
We will be busy in this short week at school, here is what we will be doing in Math and Science:
Math: We will continue to work on our Decimal Operations unit. We began with a review of our estimation, addition, and subtraction skills last week. We will be moving on to multiplication and division of decimals over the next few days. This unit is fantastic for parents/guardians to get involved with. How often do we deal with decimals in our everyday lives? I would encourage students to ask parents questions about budgeting, paying bills, etc. On the other, Parents/Guardian can also use the opportunity to provide real life examples of the importance of Math in life.
*Remember our Math textbook can be found at this link (Students loggin using their school username and password)
Science: This week in Science we will continue to work on our "Animal Projects", students receive two class periods per week to work on this activity. By the end of this week, research should be finished and students should have the appropriate information re-processed in their own words. Students have been offered a choice in how they present their findings to their classmates. Presentations will begin October 26th. For an overview of the necessary project components Click here
Last week we discussed the energy flow in ecosystems including; the carbon cycle, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and the role of producers, consumers, and decomposers in an ecosystem. This week we will also discuss our understanding of Food webs.
Have a fantastic week everyone!
Mr. L:)
