Greetings Everyone!
I am beginning to think weekends are busier than the weekdays! My oldest son had three birthday parties to attend this weekend, wow! I had a chance to visit with some university friends, it was our last official get-together at convocation on Saturday. A very busy chapter in my life came to a close as I was awarded my Masters in Education from the University of Lethbridge. I could not have accomplished this without the support of my family, friends, and colleagues. Thanks everybody!
I also celebrated graduation by going to Calgary to see the Flames and Oilers play. Unfortunately, the Oilers lost. I will never hear the end of it tomorrow. To make matters worse, I think I lost a bet with Mr. James, Mr. Hall, and Mr. Letasy...I have to wear a Flames jersey at school Monday. I might be ill!
We have a very short, but a very full week ahead of us. There will be Parent-teacher conferences Wednesday evening, and Thursday all day. There will be no school Thursday or Friday for students:
Math: We will be continuing with our Multiplication and incorporating Division of Decimals this week as well. Students are becoming more comfortable with the concept, however, we could all use some extra help. Please make the time to check with your child on his/her progress with these concepts. Students will also begin preparations to become "Travel Agents" for their unit performance task. They will be charged with planning a vacation for a mystery traveller over the next couple of weeks. More to come...
Science: We will be wrapping up section II of our Interactions and Ecosystems unit this week. Students have been provided with time in class to work through their study guides. There will be a quiz Wednesday, October 20th this week. Students will also be continuing to work on their Animal research projects, due October 26th. On another note, I have made some inquiries about gaining access to an online version of the textbook we use to support our learning in class. I received confirmation from the publisher that I will have a password sometime this week. I will post a link on the blog as soon as it becomes available to me.
Have a fantastic week and I look forward to seeing you at interviews!
David
